About Us

Our International History

The Links Incorporated was founded on the evening of November 9, 1946 when Margaret Hawkins and Sarah Scott, two young Philadelphia Matrons, called together a group of seven friends in hopes of creating a new organization. These two women envisioned a new organization composed of friends willing to serve their community.

Besides the two Founders, the original members were Frances Atkinson, Katie Green, Marion Minton, Lillian Stanford, Myrtle Manigault Stratton, Lillian Wall and Dorothy Wright. From that founding meeting what is now The Links, Incorporated was created. The founders’ intent was to create a women’s service organization that addressed civic, educational and cultural issues that enrich their communities. With over 12,000 women and chapters in 40 states, the District of Colombia, Nassau, Bahamas, and Frankfort, Germany, the original vision of our Founders remains intact.

Friendship and Service is the cornerstone of our organization!

Chapter History

Organized in 1975, the Montgomery County Chapter has provided programs, services and talents through numerous service projects serving both Montgomery and Chester Counties.  Chapter members were committed to over 2,000 volunteer hours within the past year servicing the two counties.

Our Purpose

The Links Foundation, Inc. has two key purposes:
